Shoreseeker Challenge headed West to be part of Women’s Adventure Expo in Bristol over the weekend of 22nd/23rd April 2017. Looking to inspire and empower women to take on adventures of their own we took an ocean rowing boat to display and to take people out on hour long sessions on the Sunday.
Saturday was a great day of interacting with other like-minded individuals, all adventure driven. It was great to be in the same room as people like Beth French, Erin Bastian and Sarah Outen, hearing their stories. The audience heard from Tom Salt, Shoreseeker's founder, about what Shoreseeker has to offer them and how they could have their own ocean rowing boat challenge to conquer.
While all this was going on in the event suite upstairs, SS1 (one of Shoreseeker’s ocean rowing boats) sat outside the M shed attracting all sorts of interest from the local Bristolians and out of town visitors alike. It was great to make people aware that they too can do a Shoreseeker Challenge. It is for people like you, those that have never rowed, those that want to try something new and also for those that have some experience in the this field.
Sunday was an early morning for the Shoreseeker team, positioning SS1 ready for a crane lift into the harbour, where hour long taster sessions were taking place. It was quite a unique experience for the Mshed cranes, not sure they have ever lifted an ocean rowing boat before!
Our taster sessions ran hourly and gave those intrigued, a taste of what these ocean rowing boats are like and sparked quite an excitement with our guests. Some had travelled from as far as Cheltenham and Birmingham – just for their hour long session! Dedicated hunters of all things adventurous!
We ended the day in the sunshine as we prepared to lift SS1 back out on to her trailer with the help of the Mshed Cranes and their team once again, before the long drive back to Shoreseeker's home, Northney Marina on Hayling Island.
