Please provide your reaction to the following statements
Please provide your reaction to the following statements
The UKHMA needs a social media presence
The UKHMA Social media presence should be used to promote awareness of the UKHMA and its Harbours outside of the membership (i.e. to communicate with those who use UK Harbours)
The UKHMA should have a private social media forum for the membership only (could be in addition to public social media pages)
The UKHMA social media pages should offer advertising opportunities to its members or other organisations
UKHMA members should promote the UKHMA social media pages to their own social media page followers to help promote awareness of the UKHMA
The UKHMA social media pages should promote and raise awareness of matters that affect Harbour Masters' as a collective (i.e. without identifying individual Harbours)
The UKHMA social media pages should promote and raise awareness of each UKHMA member (i.e. promote Harbours/Companies on an individual basis)
The UKHMA social media pages should promote the full diversity of a HM's duties (e.g. from recreational marine through to full commercial activities)
3. UKHMA providing Social Media Services for your Harbour
Do you think the UKHMA should be promoting the social media activity if its individual members?
This could be to put out posts on behalf of individual members (who do not have social media presence) or to re-share social media activity (of those that do have a social media presence).
Would you consider paying the UKHMA to advertise services in your Harbour on its social pages?
This would need to be defined clearly so that it does not conflict with the main objectives of the UKHMA Social Media Strategy
Would you consider paying the UKHMA to undertake social media activities for your Harbour?
4. Your Thoughts
E.g. The MCA use their social media page to raise awareness of incidents that occur along the UK's coastline with the objective of promoting awareness of the MCA and to reduce the number of incidents that happen. They have amassed 50,000 followers.

The information you are providing will be used to help present options to the UKHMA's Council for its future social media strategy.  If you would like to discuss any of the points in more detail or have any advice, then please don't hesitate to get in touch with Tom Salt on tom.salt@ukhma.org
